Hurtado with an MCL sprain, White off the DL and other notes

— Great news out of Sounders FC camp today. An MRI on Jhon Kennedy Hurtado‘s right knee revealed just an MCL sprain and no other damage, according to coach Sigi Schmid. The Colombian defender was injured in the second half of Sunday’s game against Portland. He’s out for Wednesday’s Open Cup game and Saturday’s home game against Colorado, but could be back next week.

— More good news regarding forward O’Brian White. The forward was taken off the disabled list today, making him immediately eligible for MLS games. Schmid said White’s return could come Saturday against the Rapids or next week against Manchester United. I’ll have more from a group interview with the 25-year-old Jamaican later.

— Former D.C. United and Houston defender Jordan Graye has joined the team on trial. The 24-year-old was waived by the Dynamo not long ago. His size at 6-foot-2 and Seattle’s lack of depth at right back is worth noting.

— There was a lot of talk about tomorrow’s Open Cup quarterfinal against the L.A. Galaxy. Schmid said L.A. could be a full strength since they don’t have a league game this weekend, just a friendly against Real Madrid. “There’s nothing that hinders them from throwing out their best team,” said Schmid, “unless they feel the Real Madrid game is more important than the Open Cup game.”

— Players like Sean Franklin, Chad Barrett and A.J. DeLaGarza didn’t even participate in L.A.’s last game and could be available.
