Sounders would host USOC semi, but have to get there first

usoc logo.jpgFC Dallas beat Real Salt Lake 2-0 in a U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal tonight, which means Sounders FC would host FCD in a semifinal on Aug. 30. First, Seattle must beat the L.A. Galaxy in a 7 p.m. quarterfinal Wednesday at Starfire Stadium.

Had RSL won the Sounders would’ve had to go on the road in the semifinals.

If the Galaxy wins tomorrow, Dallas hosts L.A. in the semifinal round.

In other U.S. Open Cup action, Chicago beat New York 4-0 (though it was hardly a surprise considering the Red Bulls didn’t even bring a whole squad, field a lineup full of reserves, reportedly traveled the day of the game and coach Hans Backe didn’t even go).

Elsewhere, the Richmond Kickers beat Sporting Kansas City 2-0. Richmond is a USL Pro team, in the third division of American Soccer, and will travel to Chicago for its semifinal.
