Manchester United arrival not a distraction, Sounders say

While my attention the last couple days has been split between Sounders FC and Manchester United, Seattle players and coaches have insisted the arrival of the reigning EPL champion for Wednesday’s friendly has not been a distraction.

“We haven’t talked about them yet,” said Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid. “We’ll talk about them Saturday afternoon; we’ll mention them after the game and then we’ll start talking about them on Monday. But obviously the guys are not stupid. They read the press, they pick up the papers, and they know that Man. United’s here. I’m sure it’s something everybody’s looking forward to.”

Added Kasey Keller said it’s not an issue “because there’s no game after the Man. U. game. I think sometimes it’s more of a distraction for the game after than the game before. We want to beat Colorado for multiple reasons. For one, they’re one of our competitors in our league, and we’re in a good run right now and we want to keep that going. The Man. U. game is something fun, and let’s get through the Saturday game, get three points, and then concentrate on the fun side of that.”

What do you think? Is it possible some will be looking past the Rapids on Saturday?
