FINAL: Houston Dynamo 3, Sounders FC 1, game thread

Final. Houston 3, Sounders FC 1. So long nine-game MLS unbeaten streak. Seattle has lost 3 straight overall, but this one especially stings.

90+3′: Noonan misses a close chance. Then Friberg hits the post! On the other end, Keller snuffs out a Garey breakaway chance.

90+2′: Good run by Riley, but Fucito can’t connect on the shot.

90+1′: MISS! Garey fires a shot wide. Hosts creating more late chances than the visitors.

90′: Three minutes of stoppage time.

89′: MISS! Long-range shot by Clark skips just wide. Clark is then subbed off for Alex Dixon.

87′: Yellow card to Mike Fucito. Jason Garey in for Houston. Replaces Ching, the two-goal hero.

83′: SAVE! Big stop by Keller on Weaver.

83′: Arlo White: “We’ll be lucky to end the game with 22 men on the field at this rate.” I’d agree with that one.

78′: Mike Fucito will be Seattle’s final sub. Replaces Fernandez.

77′: Now Riley taken out by Davis or a horribly late tackle. Davis booked. It’s getting out of hand from the Dynamo.

75′: A little pushing and shoving now. Fernandez picks himself up off the ground. Gestures as though he was pushed down. Replay shows he was shoved hard by Clark. No cards.

73′: The Sounders have allowed eight goals in their last three MLS games — and shockingly won two of them. Very poor stuff from the defense.

70′: GOAL HOUSTON! Brian Ching with his second goal on the night puts the Dynamo up 3-1. Wide open on the cross from the right. Was there offside on the earlier pass?

69′: Looks like that was a move to push Rosales into the withdrawn forward position. Noonan over to the right.

67′: Fredy Montero subbed off. Pat Noonan in. Interesting. Time to send those crosses in?

64′: According to Matt Gaschk’s live blog, attendance has been announced at 18,465.

62′: Good play all around by Jaqua (hold-up) and Friberg (dummy and a run), but Montero’s through ball is blocked.

61′: Riley long ball finds Fernandez, but he’s offside.

57′: Roger Levesque subbed off. Ex-Dynamo forward Nate Jaqua replaces him.

55′: MISS! Wide-open chance for Clark, but he stumbles over himself on the shot. Looks like Flaco didn’t track the run.

52′: Rosales with another corner kick. Much better service, but it’s deflected harmlessly to Hall.

51′: Corner kick to Seattle off the counterattack. Rosales takes it. Too strong. It’s cleared.

49′: MISS! Great pass into Geoff Cameron in the box, but his first touch is a little off and manages just a weak shot at Keller.

46′: We’re underway in the second half. No changes from what I see.

Halftime: Here’s the transcript of Arlo White’s in-game interview with Schmid:

(On the start…) “Not a good start. We’ve given them too much space in the middle and we’re allowing crosses to come over. We’re too loose on the wide guys and it’s causing us problems. Same thing on our marks inside.”

(Blame the heat or travel?) “(It has) nothing to do with the heat or the travel. It just has to do with concentration. They’re taking the game very physical. They’re knocking us around a little bit, and right now we’ve got to stand up a little better and be men about it, and stand up to those challenges.”

(How do you get back in it?) “We’ve got to have the same intensity and we have to play with better concentration.”

Halftime: Levesque down before the whistle and could need treatment. Schmid shown barking at the referee as they walk off to the locker rooms.

Halftime. Houston Dynamo 2, Sounders FC 1. Another goal-filled game for Seattle. Pulling a goal back on the PK was huge.

45′: Two minutes of stoppage time.

44′: Good defending by Parke. Then plays Ching offside. Very close though.

42′: Corey Ashe needs treatment for Houston. Arlo says Bruin was removed due to a left knee injury.

40′: MISS! Ching with another header, but it’s wide.

39′: SAVE! Keller tips a rocket shot by Moffat over the bar.

38′: Things getting feisty. Fernandez earns a yellow card.

37′: GOAL SEATTLE! Alvaro Fernandez converts the spot kick! Now has six on the season to tie Montero for the team lead. Remember Flaco was No. 1 on the board in the Portland game, but was subbed off the field before Alonso’s attempt. It’s 2-1 Houston.

36′: Penalty kick coming to Seattle! Montero tripped up in the penalty box by Ashe.

35′: Earlier Arlo White asked Sigi Schmid if the heat and/or travel had contributed to the slow start. Schmid didn’t bite. Said the defense has been poor on the flanks and in the middle. Said the Sounders need to be men. Strong words. No excuses.

34′: Weaver earns a booking for a rash foul.

33′: SAVE! SAVE! Keller first stops a driven shot from Ching. Then Moffat with a long-range effort, but each are taken by the Sounders FC captain.

31′: Will Bruin unable to shake off an early knock. Cam Weaver replaces him in the 31st minute.

30′: Ashe drives in a cross from the left, but Keller has it.

27′: Defense has been far from inspired on the two goals allowed. A lot of work to do to extend a nine-game unbeaten streak.

23′: GOAL HOUSTON! Davis sets up Cameron for a cross. Brian Ching wins it easily and finishes it cleanly. More trouble for the Sounders defense on a cross. Dynamo up 2-0.

21′: Play resumes and Bruin is back on.

19′: Will Bruin down and will require treatment.

17′: Good combo play from Seattle, but Friberg’s cross is too close to Hall.

12′: Like they did against New England… and Portland… and Colorado…

8′: Sounders will need to come back again…

7′: GOAL HOUSTON! Cross comes into Ching, Wahl tries to knock it away but it falls to Colin Clark, who slams it past Keller. 1-0 Dynamo.

3′: MISS! Quick throw to Levesque, he sets up Flaco who skies a shot from 20 yards. Had some room to take a touch or two. Alonso also available.

2′: Ianni with an early error. Races back to concede a corner kick. Davis with a dangerous cross and Ianni wins it. It’s cleared.

1′: And we’re off!
