Scenarios for hosting the U.S. Open Cup final were just announced by U.S. Soccer and Sounders FC would host the Oct. 4 match at CenturyLink Field if it beats FC Dallas in Tuesday’s semifinal at Starfire Stadium.
Seattle outbid both the Chicago Fire and the Richmond Kickers, who face off in the other semifinal Tuesday.
“Obviously we have a very difficult game ahead of us in the semifinals, but if we prevail against FC Dallas we would be very excited about the opportunity to host a Cup final in front of our amazing fans at CenturyLink Field,” said general manager Adrian Hanauer in a statement.
The Sounders hosted last year’s Open Cup final, a 2-1 win against Columbus. In 2009, Seattle traveled to D.C. United, another 2-1 win.
