FINAL: Sounders FC 6, Columbus Crew 2, game thread

Postgame notes available on the Twitter feed.

* * *

Final: Sounders FC 6, Columbus 2. Lamar Neagle the hat-trick hero. Cunningham also set the MLS record for career goals at 134. Wild stuff. More to come.

90′: Three minutes added time as I scramble to finish this early story.

81′: Yellow card to Zach Scott.

78′: Jaqua in for Fucito. Earlier Scott had replaced Parke.

74′: GOAL SEATTLE! Own goal by Gardner in the 74th minute. Craziness. Sounders up 6-2…

73′: GOAL COLUMBUS! Blistering free kick in the 73rd minute by Gardner. Wowza. Sounders up 5-2…

71′: Rosales out. Fernandez in.

70′: GOAL SEATTLE! Neagle completes the hat trick in the 70th minute! Rocket shot off the crossbar and in. Bounced out but the linesman was on it. Sounders up 5-1…

68′: CenturyLink Field attendance: 36,364

65′: Yellow card to Burns for tripping Neagle. Nothing comes of the free kick.

63′: SAVE! Montero nearly pulled one back for Seattle, but Hesmer comes up big.

59′: PENALTY KICK! GOAL COLUMBUS! Renteria tripped up in the box, but as he sets up to take the kick it looked like coach Robert Warzycha waved him off and told Cunningham to take it.

Cunningham converts and sets a new MLS record with 134 career goals. We got some history here too…

56′: Couple subs coming for Columbus. Heinemann and Cunningham (who’s one goal shy of setting the MLS career scoring record) checking in. Mendoza and Duka come off.

52′: Neagle with a header wide on a Rosales cross.

50′: Updates will be a little more sporadic in the second half. Not much in it so far.

46′: And we’re off! No halftime subs.

Halftime: Some stats: Shots–CLM 8-7. Shots on goal–SEA 5-2. Fouls–SEA 7-5. Offsides–1-1. Corner kicks–CLM 2-1. Saves–SEA 2-1.

Halftime: Sounders FC 4, Columbus 0. What more needs to be said?

45′: Stat from Elias: “Sounders FC is first team to score four goals in 1st half since Rapids vs Chivas USA in August 2009.”

40′: Free kick by Gardner just over the goal.

38′: Three goals in 17 minutes for Seattle. That’s a new team record. Previous mark was three goals in 19 minutes vs. D.C. in 2009.

34′: Neagle just off with a cross. We’ll forgive him, I think…

32′: Corner kick to Columbus. Fucito wins it. Oddly enough. Another cross comes in a Hurtado with a dangerous clearance for another corner kick. Fucito wins it again! Crew midfielder offside on the second effort. Meanwhile Keller makes a phenomenal save that doesn’t count.

29′: CROSSBAR! Cross comes into Mendoza, he gets a touch to it and it bounces off the turf and off the bar.

27′: Sorry to disappoint, but the Sounders didn’t score in the last six minutes…

21′: GOAL SEATTLE! It’s Neagle with his second of the day in the 21st minute! He hammers in a cross from James Riley at the far post. Sounders up 3-0!

19′: Neagle lines up an open shot, but hammers it high. This one might get ugly…

18′: Keller spills a shot by Mendoza, but Renteria hits it wide.

16′: PENALTY KICK! GOAL! Balchan whistled for a handball in the box and Mauro Rosales step up. The Argentine drills it past Hesmer for his fourth goal in six games. It’s 2-0 Sounders.

15′: Three quality scoring chances for the Sounders in the first 15 minutes and a handful of half-chances. Very one-sided so far.

13′: MISS! Balchan with some defensive issues in the back and Montero takes advantage. Makes a couple moves in the box and sets up an open shot, but rolls it wide.

10′: SAVE! Another chance for Seattle, as Neagle sets up Rosales on the right, but his shot is hit right at Hesmer.

8′: The Sounders are 8-0-3 this season when scoring first. Columbus is 3-7-4 after conceding first.

4′: GOAL SEATTLE! It’s Lamar Neagle! The Federal way native collected a pass from Mike Fucito, outmuscled Rich Balchan on the challenge and powered a shot past goalkeeper Will Hesmer. 1-0 Sounders.

4′: Parke hits a nice long ball to Neagle, whose centering pass just misses Fucito…

2′: Good combo from Montero and Rosales, but the Argentine is heavy on the next touch.

1′: And we’re off!

Pregame: Here’s the walkout. Columbus in the canary yellow. Sounders FC in the familiar green-blue-green combo at home.

Pregame: Here’s something to keep an eye on. Five Sounders would be suspended for the next MLS game with a yellow card: Carrasco, Friberg, Hurtado, Montero, Wahl

Pregame: Be sure to check out the lineups below. Fucito-Montero starting up top. Fernandez starts on the bench tonight coming off the Monterrey game Tuesday, with Neagle starting in his place.
