My Major League Soccer power rankings — week 25

LA Galaxy Logo.jpg1. (1) Los Angeles Galaxy 14-3-9

Seattle is closing fast, which could make the Supporters’ Shield race interesting.

2. (2) Seattle Sounders FC 13-5-9

Lamar Neagle’s hat trick gave him a team-leading 0.68 goals-per-90-minutes average.

3. (3) FC Dallas 13-7-7

John’s transfer to Blackburn fell through. How motivated will he still be in MLS?

4. (7) Real Salt Lake 11-7-6

Javier Morales practiced for the 1st time since suffering a gruesome ankle injury in May.

5. (4) Columbus Crew 11-8-7

Fell from third to seventh in team defense after a 6-2 shellacking at CenturyLink Field.

6. (5) Colorado Rapids 10-7-11

Shutout loss to Chicago marked the first time in 10 games the Rapids were held scoreless.

7. (6) Sporting Kansas City 9-8-9

Dealt a second loss at home in brutal fashion, conceding two very late goals to Dallas.

8. (9) Philadelphia Union 8-6-10

Five games winless despite boasting the East’s best defense (24 goals allowed).

9. (8) Houston Dynamo 8-8-11

Move to the Eastern Conf. has worked out. Ranked third, but would be sixth in the West.

10. (12) Portland Timbers 9-12-5

Back in the playoff race, but still has three long trips east (D.C., Philly, New York).

11. (11) D.C. United 7-7-10

Dwayne De Rosario leads MLS in the highest percentage of goals scored in Sept./Oct.

12. (10) Chivas USA 7-10-10

Yet another player joins MLS through allocation. Time is running out to use that No. 1 spot.

13. (13) New York Red Bulls 6-6-14

Biggest disappointment so far has three of the next four at home to get back on track.

14. (14) Chicago Fire 4-7-15

Dominic Oduro’s nine goals have him tied for fifth in the league. Who saw that coming?

15. (15) New England Revolution 4-11-11

Sergio Garcia of the PGA Tour joined the team for training Wednesday.

16. (16) Toronto FC 4-12-12

Showing improvement at least, going 1-1-3 in the last five games.

17. (18) Vancouver Whitecaps 4-13-9

Shea Salinas’ 86th-minute winner gave the ‘Caps a decent 4-3-5 record at home.

18. (17) San Jose Earthquakes 5-10-11

13 games winless and a needed a late Wondolowski goal to steal a draw in Toronto. Yikes.

What do you think? Should Seattle be No. 1?
