Rosales out 2-4 weeks with a slight MCL tear in his right knee

rosales mug.jpgMauro Rosales‘ MRI results came in late Monday and the Sounders FC midfielder suffered a small MCL tear in his right knee during Saturday’s 3-0 win against D.C. United. He is expected to miss 2-4 weeks.

An emerging league MVP candidate, Rosales has five goals and established a new team record with assists in a season with 12.

It appears the 30-year-old Argentine will miss at least the next four games: at home vs. CS Herediano (Tuesday), at Vancouver (Saturday), at Comunicaciones (Sept. 27) and at New England (Oct. 1).

Two weeks for now, the earliest possible return, would be Oct. 3. Four weeks away is Oct. 17. So here are games Rosales could come back…

Oct. 4 — vs. Chicago Fire (U.S. Open Cup final)

Oct. 8 — vs. Philadelphia Union

Oct. 15 — vs. San Jose (home finale in MLS)

Oct. 18 — vs. Monterrey (CCL)

Oct. 22 — at Chivas USA (regular season finale)
