My Major League Soccer power rankings — week 28

LA Galaxy Logo.jpg1. (1) Los Angeles Galaxy 16-3-10

The only team unbeaten at home (10-0-5) has won seven of its past nine in league.

2. (3) Seattle Sounders FC 14-6-9

How will MLS’ best offense (46 goals) be affected by the loss of the inimitable Mauro?

3. (2) Real Salt Lake 14-7-6

Four-game winning streak ties longest of the year — also started the season with one.

4. (4) FC Dallas 13-9-7

Three losses in four games has put Schellas Hyndman’s team on track for a wild-card berth.

5. (5) Sporting Kansas City 10-9-10

Eastern Conference crown could come down to upcoming home games vs. Crew, Union.

6. (6) Columbus Crew 11-10-8

Hadn’t dropped points from a winning position all season until conceding late to Houston.

7. (9) Portland Timbers FC 10-12-6

The winner of four in a row at home hasn’t allowed a goal in 271 minutes, a club record.

8. (10) Philadelphia Union 9-7-12

Fighting for its playoff life despite boasting by far the East’s best defense (30 goals allowed).

9. (7) Colorado Rapids 10-9-11

Tumbling after a third straight loss. Ex-Sounder Sanna Nyassi has five goals in eight games.

10. (11) Houston Dynamo 9-9-12

No MLS team is close to the Dynamo’s disparity at home (9-3-3) vs. on the road (0-6-9).

11. (8) D.C. United 8-8-10

Hasn’t played at home since Aug. 13, due in part to Hurricane Irene postponements.

12. (13) New York Red Bulls 7-6-15

Ended an eight-game winless streak in Dallas, but needed “dirty and cynical” play to do so.

13. (15) Toronto FC 6-12-12

Midseason signing Danny Koevermans has dazzled with six goals in his last seven games.

14. (12) New England Revolution 5-12-12

Four-game unbeaten streak came to an abrupt end with a 3-0 loss in Portland.

15. (17) Chicago Fire 5-8-15

With 10 goals, Dominic Oduro is the franchise’s first double-digit scorer since 2004.

16. (14) Chivas USA 7-12-10

Angel’s goal snapped the club’s 334-minute drought, but he also had an own goal in a 3-2 loss.

17. (16) San Jose Earthquakes 6-11-11

For the third time this season, the ‘Quakes lost despite scoring the game’s first goal.

18. (18) Vancouver Whitecaps FC 4-14-10

The final game at Empire Field — before unveiling the new BC Place — is a rivalry bout vs. Seattle.

I’m not sure there’s been a week this season where MLS power rankings around the league have been so different. What do you think? Who’s too high or too low?
