Sounders FC midfielder Mauro Rosales held a chat with ESPN Deportes today and he said he’s hoping to get a contract extension done before the end of the season. Though my Spanish isn’t perfect, it appears as though he said he’d ideally like to stay for two years before returning to Argentina to end his career.
General manager Adrian Hanauer was also asked about how the contract negotiations are going.
“Good,” he replied. “I don’t think either side is urgently trying to get something done this moment. We’re going through the process. I have a great relationship with Mauro and his agent. … It’s never 100-percent certain, but I’m confident that we’re moving in the right direction and will get something done here in the not-too-distant future.”
Hanauer declined to comment on whether that could mean making Rosales a designated player, saying “that probably gives some indication to a size of a contract.”
