Kasey Keller: “I’m done at the end of the (MLS) season.”

keller mug.jpgSounders FC goalkeeper Kasey Keller announced at the end of last year that the 2011 season will be his last.

This we all know.

Several fans have wondered, however, if Keller consider that “season” to be the end of the MLS postseason or perhaps Seattle’s ongoing run in the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League, of which the Sounders qualified for the knockout stages last week with a tie in Guatemala.

A two-leg CCL quarterfinal kicks off next March. So would Keller consider sticking around to see it through?

“No, no. I’m done at the end of the (MLS) season,” he told The Seattle Times after Sunday’s practice. “It’s cool. I’d be tremendously happy to go out winning another (Open Cup), and there’s no reason why we can’t go on and challenge for the MLS Cup, as well. It’s exactly happening the way I wanted it to happen — that the team plays well, that my form’s been good and just finish on a high.”
