After a day off, the Sounders will resume training this morning in preparation for Saturday’s regular-season home finale against San Jose. Here are some notes from the past couple days:
* * *
— The team provided some details on promotions for what will be a busy Fan Appreciation Day (includes 40,000 captain’s armbands, as pictured above). Saturday also marks the game in which Sounders FC will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Lastly, there will be an on-field ceremony to honor retiring goalkeeper and captain Kasey Keller after the match.
— Fredy Montero and Osvaldo Alonso are among the four finalists for U.S. Open Cup Player of the Tournament. The winner will be announced Thursday.
— Speaking of Montero, The State Library has some free posters (available in English and Spanish) of the star forward available on its website.
— Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated caught up with U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati recently and asked him why there aren’t more national-team games in the Pacific Northwest. Interesting stuff.
