That’s right. Sounders FC has sold more than 62,000 tickets for Saturday’s regular-season finale against San Jose. Kickoff at CenturyLink Field is at 7:30 p.m.
I’m not sure what more there is to say at this point.
I pointed out on Twitter that I’m pretty sure the crowd here will be bigger than any in the English Premier League this weekend. Manchester United is the only team with a stadium that can hold more than 62,000, but will be on the road at Liverpool.
There might only be a handful of teams around the world that will top CenturyLink Field’s turnout Saturday.
It’ll be the biggest crowd ever for a league game in Seattle, including the NASL days. It’ll also likely end up as the third-largest attendance for an MLS game that’s not included in a doubleheader. Here are charts on those lists.
