Sounders FC goalkeeper Kasey Keller has been named MLS Player of the Week for his masterful performance Saturday against San Jose. The captain made a season-high seven saves and several other stops to keep Seattle in the game and allow for a late comeback in the 2-1 win.
Keller is the fifth Sounders to win the award, joining Lamar Neagle (Week 24), Mauro Rosales (Week 18), Fredy Montero (Week 17) and Jeff Parke (Week 10).
The 41-year-old was also named Player of the Week on Week 2 of 2009.
Clearly, we all know he’s deserving after what was a stunning display at CenturyLink Field. The performance resonated nationally as the award is voted upon by select members of the North American Soccer Reporters.
