Rosales jogs in warm-ups, will have MRI Monday afternoon

Sounders FC midfielder Mauro Rosales was able to do a little running during warmups before Monday’s practice. That was the extent of his involvement before going back to the locker room.

Coach Sigi Schmid said Rosales, who suffered a right knee injury early in Saturday’s game, will have an MRI this afternoon, but things continued to look positive.

“We’ll just have to see once the doctor looks at it and see how he is,” said Schmid, “but I think he was surprised a little bit about how much he was able to do today.”

Encouraging signs for sure. I’ll pass along MRI results when they become available.

Schmid was also asked about his comments after the game about how it appeared Rosales feared for the worst after the tackle.

“It’s like when Jhon Kennedy (Hurtado) did his MCL earlier this year; he thought immediately it was his ACL again,” the coach said. “That also hits you as a players — the fear factor gets in there. But he took a good hit. It was a good, solid (hit); Zemanski came in late and got him knee to knee. It’s a matter of how much was torque and twisting, and how much was just the collision.”
