VIDEO: Highlights of Sunday’s conference semifinal action

New York Red Bulls 0, Los Angeles Galaxy 1

At Red Bull Arena, Mike Magee scored the lone goal in the 15th minute while the Red Bulls defense was protesting that Robbie Keane was offside (you can decide whether he was passive or not). Josh Saunders made the start in goal over a healthy Donovan Ricketts, and did quite well to earn the shutout. Don’t miss the scuffle after the final whistle, which had a lot of people talking. Juninho and Rafa Marquez were red carded for their roles in the mini melee.

Philadelphia Union 1, Houston Dynamo 2

At PPL Park, Andre Hainault and Calen Carr scored first-half goals as the Dynamo got a big road win against a new-look Union lineup. Philadelphia forward Sebastien Le Toux had the lone tally for the hosts in the franchise’s first playoff game. Houston had come into the game 0-2-2 against Philly. Interestingly, Union coach Peter Nowak said the loss might’ve been a good thing for his team.

Colorado Rapids 0, Sporting Kansas City 2

At Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, forward Teal Bunbury scored two second-half goals to give the top seed in the Eastern Conference a comfortable advantage going into the home leg. The injury-ravaged Rapids lost Caleb Folan and Kosuke Kimura early in the game, which certainly didn’t help. The result capped an 0-for-3 day for the lower seeds at home. Kei Kamara twisted the dagger a little bit on Twitter afterward.
