The U.S. men’s national team earned a bye to the third round of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying, so the fact that the other CONCACAF teams in the group stage were settled Friday might’ve gotten lost in the mix amid a big international weekend.
Those games kick off next year and the top two from each of the three groups will advance to the final stage of qualifying, often referred to as “The Hexagonal.”
Here’s how things have shaped up:
Group A — U.S., Jamaica, Guatemala, Antigua and Barbuda
Group B — Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guyana
Group C — Honduras, Cuba, Canada, Panama
There’s no reason to think the U.S. won’t breeze to a top-two finish, but any thoughts?
