@KING5Sports has learned that #Sounders broadcaster Arlo White is moving on. He’s expected to be the lead voice for NBC’s soccer coverage.

As seen in the tweet above, Sounders FC broadcast partner KING-5 reported Wednesday evening that play-by-play man Arlo White will leave the team to lead NBC Sports’ soccer coverage starting in 2012. KING-5 is the local NBC affiliate.

It was only a few days ago when Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl reported that NBC was pursuing White, who has one year left on his contract with the Sounders.

The team declined to comment on the report. There has been no official announcement or response by White, on Twitter or otherwise.

White took over on the Sounders call full-time before the 2010 season and it didn’t take long before he established himself as one of the best of the business (hence the apparent interest from NBC). He quickly won over the fans, and judging by the reaction I’ve seen so far, his loss would be painful for most.
