Sounders interested in Costa Rican defender Heiner Mora

A report from MLS Rumors on Monday, citing an unnamed source, said the Sounders are looking to sign Costa Rican national Heiner Mora as a replacement at right back for the departed James Riley.

According to the report, Mora’s contract expires in December.

When asked about the team’s interest, general manager Adrian Hanauer told The Seattle Times in an email that Mora is “definitely a player we like,” but offered no further comment.

Mora, 27, has experience with the Costa Rican national team and is currently playing for Deportivo Saprissa. The 5-foot-10 defender played in all four of his country’s games in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup (starting three) and scored a goal in a 5-0 group-stage win against Cuba. He also started all three games in the 2011 Copa America, group-stage matches against Colombia, Bolivia and Argentina.

What do you think of the potential addition?
