Now I don’t mean to rub it in, but I think it’s only fair to tell you I won’t be writing or blogging for the next 10 days or so. I’m going on vacation to Italy with my fiancee (we got engaged a few months ago). On a side note, if you’ve got any tips or favorites places when it comes to Rome, Florence, Venice and/or Cinque Terre, feel free to post in the comments section.
I also hope some commenters will be able to provide updates here if news happens in my absence. Certain things to keep an eye on:
— A possible announcement on a new contract for Mauro Rosales (last update here)
— A possible signing of Austrian goalkeeper Michael Gspurning (interest mentioned here)
— A possible signing of Costa Rican defender Heiner Mora (interest mentioned here)
— Possible clarification on Miguel Montano‘s future (last update here)
— Stage 1 of the MLS Re-Entry Draft on Monday (eligible players listed here)
Some other last reminders. Gorilla FC and the North End Faithful will be holding their year-end party Friday from 7:30 p.m. to midnight at Golazo headquarters (714 E. Pike Street). Kasey Keller will be there to accept the GFC Player of the Year award. James Riley, Taylor Graham, Sammy Ochoa and a bunch of trophies are also expected to be in attendance. The event will serve as a benefit for One Hundred for Haiti. More information and tickets on GorillaFC.com.
Also, as I mentioned in a previous post, the Emerald City Supporters will be having their year-end party at RepubliQ Night Club (2946 1st Avenue South) on Saturday. Tickets for the 21-and-up event are available on the ECS website. Keller and Gary Wright, the senior VP of business operations, will be special guests.
Lastly, I’d like to open this post up to any thoughts or suggestions you have on the Sounders coverage here. As many of you know, this was my second year on the beat and second year as a full-time reporter. I’ve loved every minute of it, but there are still things I’m learning and refining. So if you feel my efforts could be directed differently, feel free to shoot me an email or post a comment.
Many thanks for everything. “See” you in a few weeks!
