Here’s the latest ad from NBC Sports, which officially took over for Versus on Monday. For those that don’t remember, NBC Sports has signed a three-year TV deal with MLS.
Based on what I’ve seen and read, lots of people like what they’ve seen so far with the advertisements (here’s another). Certainly you’d throw the can’t-miss hire of Arlo White in there as well and the hope would be that it all carries over into quality coverage of the league.
Are you optimistic in what NBC Sports will bring based on what they’ve done so far?
Let’s get to some other links:
— Some potential Sounders-to-be got some good news Monday. Former academy stars DeAndre Yedlin (a defender at Akron) and Sean Okoli (a forward at Wake Forest) were among the 36 called into first U.S. U-20 men’s national team camp of the year. Fourteen pros are included for early preparations toward 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifying.
A current member of the academy, Jalen Markey, also got a call up. The 6-foot-2 defender plays for the Sounders U-16s and was called into a U.S. U-18 camp. Unless I’m mistaken, all three will be eligible to be homegrown signings for Seattle in the future. SoundersFC.com has a roundup of the news.
— Someone took the time to breakdown Seattle’s success against MLS team in points-per-match format.
— Here’s a nice story on former UW women’s soccer star Tina Ellertson.
— Here’s the latest Nos Audietis podcast from Sounder at Heart, featuring an interview with Federal Way’s Kelyn Rowe, who signed with MLS last week.
