Sounders FC holds No. 15 and No. 34 in Thursday’s 9 a.m. MLS SuperDraft

superdraft 2012.jpgHere’s a brief look at Sounders FC history in the MLS SuperDraft, with a couple more additions expected Thursday. Overall picks are in parentheses and I’ve used the strike-through feature to indicate those who are no longer with the team.

Round 1 (15) — D Andrew Duran, Creighton

Round 2 (34) — F Babayele Sodade, Alabama-Birmingham

Both are the team’s natural picks based on the 2011 season.

2011

Round 2 (20) — D Michael Tetteh, UCSB

Round 2 (21) — D Leone Cruz, SMU

Round 2 (27) — M Servando Carrasco, Cal

Round 2 (29) — G Bryan Meredith, Monmouth

Round 3 (47) — M Alex Caskey, Davidson

The Sounders traded their first-round pick to Portland for a second-round pick and allocation money. Seattle also picked up second-round picks in trades with Chicago (Freddie Ljungberg) and D.C. United (Stephen King).

2010

Round 1 (11) — M David Estrada, UCLA

Round 2 (27) — M Michael Seamon, Villanova

Round 4 (59) — D Jamel Wallace, San Diego State

Sounders FC’s third-round pick went to Houston as a part of the trade that sent Patrick Ianni to Seattle.

2009

Round 1 (1) — M Steve Zakuani, Akron

Round 2 (16) — D Evan Brown, Wake Forest

Round 3 (31) — D Jared Karkas, Azusa Pacific

Round 4 (46) — F Mike Fucito, Harvard

The Sounders had the first pick as an expansion team and the rest of the picks followed suit.
