Report: Philadelphia Union to host 2012 MLS All-Star Game

Philadelphia Union Logo.jpgMLS released details early Monday morning that the Philadelphia Union will make a “significant” announcement Tuesday at City Hall. Those expected to be in attendance are Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter, City of Chester Mayor John Linder, MLS commissioner Don Garber and Union CEO Nick Sakiewicz.

Turns out, Philadelphia will be hosting the 2012 MLS All-Star Game, sources have told Philly.com. The same website speculated about that possibility a couple weeks ago.

I’m not sure when the date will be, but there’s certainly a chance we could see more Sounders FC involvement. The All-Star Game has clashed with CONCACAF Champions League action the last two years (though Kasey Keller was able to find his way there last season).

What do you think of the news?

* * *

— It sounds like Sounders FC Academy alum Jamael Cox is training with Scottish club Rangers. Not bad for the 19-year-old.

— Also, here’s the latest “Inside the SuperDraft” feature from MLSsoccer.com. See who Seattle was trying to trade with during the first round.
