Henderson, Schmid on Hall of Fame ballot

A couple Sounders are on the National Soccer Hall of Fame ballot again as Class of 2012 nominees.

Technical director Chris Henderson is nominated as a player and coach Sigi Schmid is on the ballot as a builder, as they both have for the past few years. Voting opened Tuesday and runs through Feb. 17, with results being announced shortly after. If you’re interested, here’s more information on the nominees and the process.

— Also, a former WPS player Ella Masar sounds off on notorious magicJack owner Dan Borislow.

— Around the league, the New York Red Bulls signed midfielder Joel Lindpere to a new deal and are reportedly pursuing German legend Michael Ballack. The Union are also keeping busy, completing the transfer of Roger Torres and reportedly trading midfielder Kyle Nakazawa to the L.A. Galaxy for an international slot and a couple draft picks.

— In other MLS news, Portland signed U.S. youth national Charles Renken and Soccer by Ives has a great rundown on why the Timbers were able to acquire the talented 18-year-old without bother. And the league website has a story on former Sounder Peter Vagenas, who’s in Chivas USA camp.

— The must-see video clip of the day is a fan handcuffing himself to a goalpost in the Manchester City-Everton game Tuesday.
