Seattle Sounders FC Logo.jpgSounders FC wraps up its time in Florida with one last training session this morning. The team will then travel to Orlando later today and complete the trip to Cancun, Mexico, on Tuesday in anticipation of Wednesday’s training game against Atlante FC of the Mexican Primera Division.

We’re hoping to get in touch with coach Sigi Schmid again today, so keep a look out for more updates.

Until then, here are some links:

This Goal.com story lists Sounders FC as a potential suitor for Michael Ballack. When I asked general manager Adrian Hanauer about it, he expressed admiration for the veteran German midfielder but said the team is not pursuing him at this time.

— Looks like draft pick Tim Pontius has landed with the VC Fusion of the PDL after being released from camp.

— Here’s a great in-depth interview with Sounders Women’s GM Amy Carnell. It sounds like they’ll be playing in rave green uniforms and at Starfire. When asked about Hope Solo‘s and Sydney Leroux‘s availability, Carnell upped the expectation to four home games. Plenty of other good stuff there.

— The UW men’s soccer team released its spring schedule and it includes a May 4 home game against the Sounders FC U-23s.

— Academy product Sean Okoli was included in the U.S. U-20 camp roster for Feb. 20 through March 1. You’ll recognize a couple names on the U.S. women’s team’s preliminary roster for the 2012 Algarve Cup in Portugal.

— Vancouver’s Jay DeMerit is always an entertaining one. He’s got a blog going.

— Sporting Kansas City signed star midfielder Graham Zusi to a new four-year deal.

— One writer wonders what’s going on with George John. We haven’t heard much from the Shoreline native and FC Dallas man since he went on loan to West Ham.

— MLS is planning on cracking down on reckless tackles this upcoming season, according to comments in this report.

Here’s an update on San Jose’s stadium situation.

— How about some Tottenham links? Coach Harry Redknapp, a former NASL Sounder, hopes the open England job is addressed after the EPL season. AEG denies interest in buying the club. League One club Stevenage Borough, led by former MLS coach Gary Smith, held the Spurs to a draw to force an FA Cup replay.

— And, the personal favorite again, Soccer AM’s “Showboat”.
