UPDATE: Amadou Sanyang to weigh his options (Tuesday links)

UPDATE 3:34 p.m. — As Crandall tweeted, Sanyang could still join the Fire in Charleston on Wednesday night, but those details aren’t being arranged by the Sounders.

UPDATE 2:35 p.m. — I just got some clarification on this situation from the Sounders. Amadou Sanyang did not travel with the team to Cancun and has returned to Seattle. The team expects to discuss some options with the 20-year-old defender/midfielder when they return from Mexico.

One of those options could be with Chicago. Either way, it doesn’t look like he has an immediately future with the Sounders.

The Sounders have made their way to Cancun earlier today in anticipation of Wednesday’s closed-door training game against Atlante FC.

We’ve learned another player didn’t make the trip as defender/midfielder Amadou Sanyang will join the Chicago Fire on trial, according to a team spokesman. Sanyang will remain under contract with Seattle, so the Sounders would be due compensation if Chicago officials like what they see. Jeff Crandall had the initial report.

Here are some afternoon links:

— The Eddie Johnson acquisition continues to be big news and the newest Sounder joined the guys at MLSsoccer.com‘s ExtraTime Radio the other day. There’s some fresh stuff in the interview that I recommend.

Sounder at Heart‘s podcast, Nos Audietis, also devoted a lot of time to discussing the trade in its latest episode. There’s an interview with GM Adrian Hanauer there and, later on, some good stuff with ECS co-president Greg Mockos.

— The Montreal Impact has started introducing its fans to Mike Fucito and Lamar Neagle.

— Here’s a story that says it’s time to get rid of the allocation process. What do you think?

Dwayne De Rosario signed a new deal with D.C. United on Monday. He’ll be the team’s highest-paid player, but won’t be a designated player. The team has also brought John Harkes back to the broadcast booth.

— The latest episode of Portlandia, a sketch-comedy series, involved the Timbers Army.

— In some offshoot news, Thierry Henry‘s wants a huge fish-tank in his house, Tom Cruise is joining N.E. Revolution camp and the Rochester Lancers of the MISL have offered a unique deal to the reportedly cash-strapped Allen Iverson.
