Sounders Women to sign Alex Morgan?

sounders women.jpgAs far as I can tell, the rumors started with this tweet on Tuesday from Sounders FC academy player Dominique Dismuke, when he said he had heard that U.S. women’s national team star Alex Morgan “might be playing” for the Sounders Women for the upcoming W-League season.

In a reply to an inquiry, Dismuke went on to say on Twitter that one of his friends who works at Starfire heard Morgan had been training with the team (presumably before the USWNT went to Portugal for the Algarve Cup) and might sign soon.

Then, this morning, Sounder at Heart said the signing could be announced next week.

Lastly, Sounders Women’s general manager Amy Carnell offered this statement regarding the team’s interest in signing Morgan, the longtime girlfriend of Sounders FC midfielder Servando Carrasco:

“Alex is certainly a player we would be interested in signing, as would any other team in this league. Her World Cup resume, and recent USWNT performance are impressive to say the least.”

UPDATE 11:17 p.m. — Another report, quoting a source, says it’s going to happen.

So what do you think? Coming off the signings of Hope Solo and Sydney Leroux, what would you make of Morgan joining as well?
