Lazy Saturday links

Seattle Sounders FC Logo.jpgThe Sounders are off for another day before resuming training Sunday, so it doesn’t figure to be a busy Saturday. There are a few notes to pass along.

Amadou Sanyang has indeed joined the Chicago Fire on trial, as was mentioned during a somewhat confusing situation last week.

Also, it appears as though Mrisho Ngassa will not be rejoining the Sounders. The Tanzanian forward/midfielder was here last year and it was thought he might come over for training camp.

Here are some other links:

* * *

— SI’s Grant Wahl talked to all nine Western Conference coaches for an MLS preview. Sounders FC’s Sigi Schmid had some interesting things to say about the L.A. Galaxy and the Eddie Johnson trade. He said he expects three new starters: Johnson, goalkeeper Michael Gspurning and defender Adam Johansson. I wonder if that suggests Leo Gonzalez has won the job at left back outright over Marc Burch.

— The Portlandia sketch involving the Timbers Army ran recently. Here’s a entertaining note on how Portland presented new forward Kris Boyd with a No. 9 jersey while a teammate already had that number.

Michael Ballack, once rumored to be a target of the Sounders, will join ESPN for its Euro 2012 commentary team.

— Here’s a story hoping some MLS soccer can bring some life to Tucson.

— Lastly, this is for the beer fans: It sounds like Two Beers Brewing will be available at CenturyLink Field.
