About 16,500 CCL tickets sold for March 7

ccl logo.jpgAccording to the Sounders, about 16,500 tickets have been sold for the team’s March 7 home leg against Mexico’s Santos Laguna in a CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal.

This is up from the 14,000 reported about three weeks ago.

There’s certainly reason to believe the CenturyLink Field crowd in eight days could be around 20,000 with a walk-up contingent. Though everyone else in CCL will be looking up to Toronto when it comes to attendance and they’re looking to maybe sell out a 45,000 capacity setup at the Rogers Centre.

Here’s Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid from Sunday:

“We’re really looking forward to the game against Santos Laguna; we hope all our fans come out there,” Schmid said. “We don’t want Toronto to be the only guys to have a huge attendance for the Champions League. We want to be there as well.”
