Johnson expected to be available Wednesday, could start vs. Santos Laguna

johnson mug 2012.jpgSounders FC forward Eddie Johnson participated in a full training session Sunday at CenturyLink Field. The new acquisition has been dealing with a hamstring injury, but it didn’t seem to affect him much. At one point he scored a nice goal (though the feed from Osvaldo Alonso was much better).

Coach Sigi Schmid was asked about Johnson today.

“We wanted him to go and practice today, and now we’ll see how he feels tomorrow,” Schmid said. “That’s the key — how he does after having gone today. But we wanted him full in. He’s still building his fitness, as well. Whether he’ll start on Wednesday or not, even if his hamstring’s ready, is still a 50-50 proposition. Certainly today he got through everything; he said he felt fine. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow morning.”

Schmid was then asked if the expectation was that Johnson would be available at least and he said: “That would be our expectation.”
