Sounders FC defender Andrew Duran is expected to be out four to six weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. The recently signed rookie was on crutches at Friday’s practice.
Duran was diagnosed with a medial meniscus tear. Apparently a previously torn meniscus had torn again during preseason, perhaps as early as January training at the VMAC in Renton.
“I talked to the doctor about the surgery and it went well,” said coach Sigi Schmid. “Where the tear was made it a little more difficult, so it might be closer to the six-week range than the four.”
Schmid equated it to a surgery midfielder Brad Evans had a couple years ago and said they expect a full recovery.
