Sounders FC reserves beat Oregon State 2-0

osu logo.jpgAt a rainy Starfire Sports Campus, the Sounders FC reserves comfortably beat Oregon State 2-0 earlier today. Seattle’s first goal was set up when forward Sammy Ochoa won a corner kick and the subsequent bounces resulted in an own goal. Midfielder Christian Sivebaek capped the scoring on a brilliant second-half strike, curling a long-range shot from his left midfield position — at a tight angle no less — into the upper corner.

Here were the Sounders’ lineups:

First half — GK Andrew Weber, RB Roger Levesque, CB Zach Scott, CB Patrick Ianni, LB Marc Burch, RM Christian Sivebaek, CM Servando Carrasco, CB Alex Caskey, LM Michael Tetteh, F Eddie Johnson, F Sammy Ochoa

Second half — GK Bryan Meredith, RB Roger Levesque, CB Zach Scott, CB Patrick Ianni, LB Marc Burch, RM Michael Seamon, CM Andy Rose, CB Alex Caskey, LM Christian Sivebaek, F Babayele Sodade, F Sammy Ochoa

While there were a surprising amount of missed scoring chances for the Sounders, coach Sigi Schmid was less worried about the goals.

“What I was happy about is for a lot of the reserve guys this was their first time they’ve really been able to go 90 minutes,” Schmid said. “We really wanted them to go 90 minutes. Even the guys who only played 45, we had them train with the other group. We wanted to get as close to simulating 90 minutes as possible for them.”
