Daily coverage of Seattle Sounders FC, MLS and world soccer.

Off day (Monday links)

The Sounders are taking Monday off, so there won’t be much to update today — though I certainly expect forward David Estrada to be announced as MLS Player of the Week sometime soon.

Estrada was on Q it Up Sports with Aaron Levine last night, so be sure to check that out.

Here are some other links:

* * *

— Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl caught up with Tottenham coach Harry Redknapp. The former NASL player/coach was surprised, to say the least, that the Sonics are no longer in Seattle.

— Sounders FC academy product Ryan Herman, a goalkeeper, has transferred to the University of Washington.

— Looks like the ECS are in favor of a balanced schedule.

— Around the league, Canada has certainly given MLS a boost, the East has not been competitive with the West so far this season, Portland coach John Spencer had a great reaction to a goal during an in-game interview, the Galaxy renewed a sponsorship deal with Herbalife (and it’s a big one), and here’s more with MLS commissioner Don Garber.

— Lastly, reports this morning are that Fabrice Muamba — a longtime friend of Steve Zakuani‘s — has shown small signs of improvement after his cardiac arrest over the weekend.
