Reserves settle for 1-1 tie in Vancouver

Vancouver Whitecaps FC Logo.jpgSounders FC kicked off its action in the MLS Reserve League on Monday with a 1-1 tie against Vancouver at the University of British Columbia.

Midfielder Alex Caskey opened the scoring for Seattle in the 72nd minute, but the Whitecaps equalized in stoppage time through Carlyle Mitchell. Somewhat shorthanded due to injuries, the Sounders called upon invitees Daniel Steres and Sean Morris, and academy products Ian Lange and Dominique Dismuke to play some minutes.

Seattle had a 8-1-1 record in the reserve league last season, the best record in the West Division.

The Sounders host rival Portland in their next reserve game on April 10 at 7 p.m. at Starfire Stadium. There is no charge for admission, but donations will be accepted at the gate ($5 suggested). Parking is $5 or free with a Starfire membership.

Here’s the box score. Anything stand out to you?
