My MLS power rankings — Week 3

Seattle Sounders FC Logo.jpg1. (2) Seattle Sounders FC 2-0-0

New No. 1 after another strong home win. Will injuries become a worry?

2. (3) Sporting Kansas City 3-0-0

Of 15 MLS teams to start 3-0, only the ’06 Wizards missed the playoffs.

3. (1) Real Salt Lake 2-1-0

Could get Morales, Saborio back in the starting XI soon after a fluky loss.

4. (4) Houston Dynamo 2-1-0

Not long to go before the May 12 unveiling of BBVA Compass Stadium.

5. (5) FC Dallas 1-1-1

Hartman stopped his 14th PK last week. One more will tie the MLS record.

6. (6) Los Angeles Galaxy 1-1-0

Got last weekend off. Some will say they get this one off, too, hosting the lowly Revs.

7. (11) San Jose Earthquakes 2-1-0

A three-goal win in Toronto was the team’s best road result since Aug. 13, 2003.

8. (7) Portland Timbers FC 1-1-1

Slow starters have allowed the first goal in all three games this season.

9. (10) Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2-0-1

The only team yet to allow a goal has players from 17 diff. countries, an MLS high.

10. (12) Chicago Fire 1-0-1

Dominic Oduro is off to a blazing start with goals in each of the Fire’s first two games.

11. (13) New York Red Bulls 1-2-0

Henry led the way with two goals, assist vs. Rapids, but can N.Y. win if he’s not great?

12. (9) Colorado Rapids 2-1-0

Jeff Larentowicz (suspension) had his streak of 73 straight games snapped last week.

13. (8) Toronto FC 0-2-0

Dreadful start in MLS didn’t inspire much confidence heading into the CCL quarters.

14. (16) Columbus Crew 1-1-0

Int’l newcomers Olman Vargas and Milovan Mirosevic each have goals already.

15. (14) D.C. United 0-2-1

Current four-game home winless streak ties the second-longest in team history.

16. (18) Chivas USA 1-2-0

Stunned RSL on a goal by Casey Townsend. Can the rookie keep it up?

17. (19) New England Revolution 1-2-0

Saer Sene’s goal after just 28″ was all the Revs needed in the season’s first win.

18. (17) Montreal Impact 0-2-1

Road-heavy schedule doesn’t get easier with trips to N.Y., RSL coming.

19. (15) Philadelphia Union 0-3-0

Has lost six in a row in all competitions, the club’s worst run.

What do you think? Seattle a deserving No. 1?
