U.S. women beat Brazil 3-0

The U.S. women’s national team scored three goals off set pieces to beat Brazil, 3-0, early Tuesday morning in its second game in the Kirin Challenge Cup in Japan. The match kicked off four hours earlier than previously scheduled due to weather conditions.

Carli Lloyd (18′), Shannon Boxx (23′) and Amy Rodriguez (83′) scored in the first game between the teams since a memorable FIFA Women’s World Cup quarterfinal, when the U.S. tied the game in the final seconds and won in a shootout. Sounders Women’s goalkeeper Hope Solo had the shutout.

Brazil was without star forward Marta and had just one shot on goal, which came in stoppage time of the second half.

Here are your updates on the five Sounders Women:

Hope Solo: Started and played 90 minutes, recorded the shutout and made one save

Alex Morgan: Started and played 70 minutes

Megan Rapinoe: Played 45 minutes as a halftime substitute for Heather O’Reilly

Stephanie Cox: Played 59 minutes as a first-half substitute for Amy LePeilbet

Sydney Leroux: Unused sub
