Notes from a quick Sunday practice

The Sounders held a very light training session Sunday at a sunny Starfire Sports Campus. The starters from yesterday’s 1-0 win against Colorado took it easy with some light regeneration drills and the reserves weren’t going all-out in anticipation of tomorrow’s MLS Reserve League game on the road against the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Here are some quick notes:

* * *

— The reserves were scheduled to leave for L.A. this afternoon. Those not expected to be included in the action are Steve Zakuani (leg), Mauro Rosales (knee) and Adam Johansson (hamstring). Saturday’s training game against UW might work better to get them time.

— Coach Sigi Schmid left early to check out the academy action going on in the stadium. I wonder if some academy kids will make the trip with the reserves. Guest players Sean Morris and Daniel Steres were around, so it appears they’ll be involved.

— It doesn’t sound like Alvaro Fernandez‘ quad injury is very serious. From what I was told, he might’ve been available this weekend if the Sounders had a game.

A recent story about former Spanish international Raul going to play in Qatar got some notice due a mention he had an offer from the Sounders. Sounds like Seattle’s interest was a while ago, before Raul’s move to Schalke 04 in the summer of 2010, and their haven’t been discussions for quite a while. Even saying there was a formal offer might be an exaggeration of how close things were.

— Due to the bye week, the team isn’t expected to train again formally until Thursday.
