The Sounders FC U-23s, still working on finalizing their 2012 roster, beat Gonzaga, 3-2, in an exhibition Sunday at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.
It was the first game for the local PDL team, which was formerly known as the Tacoma Tide and officially aligned with the Sounders FC youth development program earlier this year.
Facundo Dipasquale was the star for Seattle, scoring in the ninth, 81st and a late winner in stoppage time after Gonzaga had leveled the score with a penalty kick.
The U-23’s first PDL home match is May 25 against the Victoria Highlanders and many more of the team’s top college signings/academy products should be available. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Franklin Pierce High School. Tickets are available on SoundersU23.com.
