My MLS power rankings — Week 6

Sporting Kansas City Logo.jpg1. (1) Sporting Kansas City 6-0-0

First team to have a perfect start through six games since the 1996 Galaxy.

2. (3) San Jose Earthquakes 4-1-1

Strong effort in N.Y. came at a cost, with injuries to Salinas, Bernardez.

3. (2) Real Salt Lake 5-2-0

Could earn the No. 2 spot back at S.J. on Sat.; beat the ‘Quakes twice in ’11.

4. (4) Seattle Sounders FC 3-1-1

Off to franchise-best start, and that’s with injuries and a misfiring offense.

5. (5) Houston Dynamo 2-1-1

Went to Chicago and earned a tough road point — amid a lightning storm.

6. (6) New York Red Bulls 3-2-1

The latest antics from the volatile Rafa Marquez should lead to another multigame suspension.

7. (7) FC Dallas 3-2-1

Will get a boost after recalling Jackson Goncalves from his loan with Brazilian club Cruzeiro.

8. (9) Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2-1-2

Will Eric Hassli be out of his scoring funk after a bye? We’ll find out Wednesday vs. K.C.

9. (8) Colorado Rapids 3-3-0

Could this week mark the return of Conor Casey after a long recovery from an Achilles injury?

10. (11) Los Angeles Galaxy 2-3-0

Beckham scored his first goal from open play since October 2010 last week, and it was a beauty.

11. (12) D.C. United 2-2-2

On a four-game unbeaten streak without any goals from De-Ro or much impact from their DPs.

12. (13) Chivas USA 3-3-0

Dan Kennedy, the reigning MLS Player of the Week, elevates his team more than any other GK.

13. (10) Chicago Fire 1-1-2

The return of Chris Rolfe, the club’s second career leading scorer, was an exciting move.

14. (15) Columbus Crew 2-3-0

Losing goalkeeper Will Hesmer perhaps for the season after hip surgery is a devastating blow.

15. (16) New England Revolution 2-4-0

Four of the team’s five goals this season have come in the opening 15 minutes of the game.

16. (14) Portland Timbers FC 1-4-1

Have lost a club-record four games in a row, and it won’t be easy to make up ground in the West.

17. (18) Philadelphia Union 1-3-1

Boasts a 244-minute shutout streak. Will the season’s first win ignite a much-needed run?

18. (17) Montreal Impact 1-5-1

Year 1 has started slowly, but at least they aren’t the worst team in MLS — or even Canada.

19. (19) Toronto FC 0-5-0

An 0-5 start is the worst in club history and tied for the third-worst in league history.

Any thoughts? Who’s too high or too low?
