The top team in MLS? (Sunday links)

The Sounders get a much-needed and much-deserved day off today after earning their fourth win in a row Saturday against Philadelphia (their third in eight days).

Elsewhere in a busy MLS weekend, both Sporting Kansas City and San Jose lost, meaning Seattle is the only team that has just one defeat this season.

Power rankings leaguewide, including from myself, will be coming out throughout the week. Do you think the Sounders, who have played six of eight games at home, deserve to be No. 1? Do you think they will be No. 1?

* * *

— If you missed it last week, Chicago midfielder Marco Pappa won MLS Goal of the Week for his Olympico directly off a corner kick against the Sounders. That means Seattle’s three goals allowed have consisted of a penalty kick and two GoTWs.

— Chelsea FC, the Sounders’ opponent in a July 18 summer friendly, won the FA Cup with a 2-1 win in the final Saturday against Liverpool.

— Around MLS, Montreal has expressed interest in Bologna forward Marco Di Vaio. He’ll visit the expansion club in May. FC Dallas signed midfielder James Marcelin, who was recently released by the Timbers.

— Kick TV’s Jimmy Conrad looks at some awful soccer uniforms.

Messi doesn’t stop.

— Sounders Women’s goalkeeper Hope Solo did a pregame interview on the NBC Sports Network broadcast yesterday with Arlo White and Kyle Martino:
