FC Dallas down two (Monday links)

While the Sounders benefited from a red-card decision over the weekend, FC Dallas wasn’t so lucky. Both midfielder Daniel Hernandez and forward Blas Perez were ejected in Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Colorado, meaning both will serve suspensions for Wednesday’s game against Seattle.

Dallas hasn’t been running at full strength either, with David Ferreira, Ricardo Villar and a few others out with injuries.

Their one consolation is that star midfielder Brek Shea is expected to be available after missing Sunday’s game with turf toe.

Let’s get to some links:

* * *

— Sounders FC are the No. 1 team in ESPN’s MLS power rankings. I thought we might start to see that this week.

— Houston is getting amped up for the debut of BBVA Compass Stadium. Here’s a look at the league’s history with soccer-specific venues.

— This is a touching scene from Sunday’s game between Colorado and Dallas. That’s Rapids defender and captain Drew Moor, who played in Dallas for many years, including a few seasons with Bobby Rhine.

— A couple more Chelsea friendlies were confirmed today. The Blues, who are coming to Seattle on July 18, will play Paris Saint-Germain on July 22 at Yankee Stadium and AC Milan on July 28 at Sun Life Stadium. They will also be the MLS All-Star Game opponent on July 25 at PPL Park.

— Around the world of soccer, Juventus clinches the Serie A title after the Milan derby over the weekend and Manchester City cleared its biggest hurdle en route to the EPL title.

— Lastly, Clint Dempsey continues to amaze. He has 23 goals this season, 17 in league play. His latest was the 50th in his EPL career:
