Zach Scott suspended one game and fined for dangerous tackle Wednesday

Make it two suspensions in two games for Sounders FC defenders.

Zach Scott is the latest to earn a one-game suspension and fine for a dangerous tackle. The retroactive discipline came down Friday morning for his 75th-minute challenge on FC Dallas midfielder Fabian Castillo.

This came in a game where Leo Gonzalez was serving a suspension for a tackle against Philadelphia’s Sheanon Williams last Saturday.

Scott’s tackle was judged by the MLS Disciplinary Committee to have endangered the safety of Castillo and he will serve his suspension Saturday against Real Salt Lake. Referee Fotis Bazakos gave Scott a yellow card on the play.

After reviewing the tape of the game, I thought Scott and FC Dallas midfielder James Marcelin (for his 12th-minute tackle on Alex Caskey) might see extra punishment.
