The report shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. The news came out Monday that Gspurning, Ianni and Evans were unlikely to play Saturday against the Whitecaps. The three had another light day Tuesday and afterward we got clarification that an MRI last week revealed Ianni has a bulging disc in his back.

“We have to let (the injury) calm down,” said coach Sigi Schmid, “and then … it’s just a matter of what he can do, a pain tolerance type of thing.”

Fernandez should be good to go against Vancouver, but Gonzalez is a new name to the list.

Said Schmid: “Leo did more today than he did yesterday; there was an improvement there. He felt he could still keep going, but we were the ones that decided to pull him out (of training) at the end. … We just wanted to be careful.”
