Zakuani will play in Friday’s reserve game, his first MLS-related action since April 2011

Steve Zakuani will play in tonight’s MLS Reserve League game against Vancouver, a Sounders FC spokesman confirmed this afternoon. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila. Admission is free (parking is $5 and a $5 donation is suggested at the gate).

The news first came this afternoon from the tweet posted above by Richard Motzkin, Zakuani’s agent.

This will be Zakuani’s first MLS-related action since his injury suffered April 22, 2011.

The 24-year-old midfielder played started and played the first 45 minutes in an April 1 training game against Gonzaga, but wasn’t able to play in an April 23 reserve game against Chivas USA. Zakuani’s availability for tonight’s reserve game was deemed “50-50” by coach Sigi Schmid on Thursday.
