— Over in Euro ’12, France and England earned group-stage wins Friday against Ukraine and Sweden, respectively. The Swedes can no longer advance to the knockout rounds, but this goal by Danny Welbeck will probably resonate more. Goal of the tournament?

— The final rounds of the group stage kick off today in Group A: Russia-Greece and Poland-Czech Republic. UEFA has all the permutations for teams advancing. And in some other links, the confederation is investigating more racism claims and elsewhere Croatia was dealt a fine. Lastly, viewership is way up.

— And don’t forget to make your picks for Round Three in our European Soccer Challenge.

— Locally, the Kitsap Pumas blasted the Sounders U-23s with a 3-0 win. On Sunday, the Sounders Women will host the LA Strikers at 4 p.m. at Starfire.

Here’s an interview with Alex Caskey for DavidsonWildcats.com.

— Sounds like former Sounder Freddie Ljungberg is set to retire soon.

— GoalWA.net is going back in Sounders history the next few days and here’s 1974.

— Lastly, the U.S. women’s national team beat Sweden, 3-1, in a friendly Saturday morning. Sounders Women’s star Alex Morgan scored one of the goal, but this one from Abby Wambach was much better…
