Furlough day (Thursday links)

Good afternoon everyone. This is a pre-written post as I’ll be taking a previously scheduled furlough day Thursday. So while this is the last you’ll hear from me today, here are some links:

* * *

— Toronto FC is unbeaten in three games since making the coaching change after earning a big 3-0 win in Montreal.

— Did you hear the Sounders-Timbers bout Sunday was the third-most watched regular-season game in MLS history? About 888,000 watched the ESPN broadcast, most since 1998.

— Around the league, Columbus and New England made some cuts recently.

— Fan voting for the MLS All-Star Game ends Monday. Fredy Montero is the only Sounder among the leaders at his position (fourth among forwards). Montero is also sixth in text-in voting; David Estrada is seventh.

Alex Morgan is nominated for an ESPY in the Top Breakthrough Athlete category. You can vote here.

— SoundersWomen.com has this profile on top scorer Veronica Perez, a UW product.

Here’s a preview of the Sounders FC U-23’s weekend. Also, the Kitsap Pumas could clinch the Ruffneck Cup on Friday against Washington Crossfire.

— Speaking of which, former Pumas executive director Ben Pecora has been hired as administrative director of WestSound FC. More information on the youth club available on its website.

— Korrio has added another youth soccer partner.

— If you’re interested, Sounders cards are now available in organic loaves of Franz bread. You can also get the cards through the company’s Facebook promo.

— Lastly, in some world soccer links, here’s USMNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann talking Euros and more with the BBC, Gareth Bale signed a new deal with Tottenham, and Bert van Marwijk has resigned as coach of the Dutch national team.
