Midseason survey (Wednesday links)

Only a few hours remain before the Sounders kick off the second half of their regular season against Real Salt Lake at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

How about a midseason survey? Take part if you’re up for it:

1. Who is Sounders FC’s MVP so far?

2. What was the season’s best goal?

3. What was the season’s best win?

4. What was the season’s worst loss?

5. Who has been the top newcomer?

6. Who has been the top breakout young player?

7. Which player/coach/executive is on the hottest seat?

8. Will Eddie Johnson (seven goals) break Seattle’s single-season scoring record of 12?

9. Will the Sounders win a fourth-straight Open Cup?

10. What’s your ideal starting lineup going forward?

Let’s get to some links…

* * *

— Here are some midseason MLS awards from ESPN.com.

— Think Seattle’s winless streak has been bad? Dallas has had it worse.

Here’s a report from Germany that apparently says the Sounders have agreed to terms with midfielder Christian Tiffert but there’s still a transfer free that has to be negotiated with his club team, FC Kaiserslautern.

— Elsewhere around the league, Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez has been activated off the disabled list as he finalizes his recovery from an ACL tear, teammate Adam Cristman unfortunately had to retire due to repeated concussions, Montreal looks close to making the Alessandro Nesta signing official, New York is still holding out hope for getting Luke Rodgers back, and the folks at MLSsoccer.com agree that the Sounders were hard done in New England.

— Sounders Women’s midfielder Veronica Perez is the reigning W-League Player of the Week after netting a hat trick in Colorado.

— The Sounders FC U-23s clinched a PDL playoff berth with some games to spare.

— In some international rankings, the U.S. dropped to No. 36 in the FIFA world rankings and the Sounders are No. 107 in the IFFHS club team rankings. I’m not sure how those IFFHS rankings work or if they hold much weight, particularly as Seattle is listed above Liverpool and Everton of the English Premier League.

— Lastly, here are the final viewership numbers from Euro 2012.
