Final: Sounders FC 2, Colorado 1, live blog

Final. Sounders FC 2, Colorado 1. A win. A Zakuani return. What a night.

90′: Three minutes of added time.

86′: Zakuani has entered the game for Mauro Rosales. Check my Twitter page for more update.

83′: Steve Zakuani has been called to the Sounders bench. Looks like he’s coming in!

81′: Cato in for Flaco.

79′: GOAL COLORADO. Cummings pulls a goal back for the Rapids. Seattle still up 2-1…

79′: Cordell Cato has been called over to the Sounders bench. Looks like he’s coming in next.

78′: Corner kick Seattle. Andy Rose heads it into the top netting.

74′: Colorado with a great chance to pull a goal back, but a shot by Martin Rivero is smothered by Bryan Meredith.

72′: Fredy Montero in for Eddie Johnson. The two exchange high fives and a hug. Johnson gets a nice ovation and more chants.

70′: It has to be said: The score is setting up nicely for a Steve Zakuani appearance. For now, Fredy Montero will be the first sub tonight.

67′: Colorado subs: Omar Cummings and Edu on for Conor Casey and Jamie Smith.

64′: GOAL SEATTLE! Eddie Johnson finishes the header for his eighth goal of the season in the 64th minute. Rosales with the cross. 2-0 Sounders.

62′: Play resumes. Johnson is back on.

61′: Sounders irate as Kevin Stott swallows his whistle after Eddie Johnson is taken out in the penalty box. The forward has stayed down. Chants of “Ed-die John-son!”

59′: CenturyLink Field attendance: 39,060

58′: A long Larentowicz shot forces the first action from Meredith in a while and he punches it out.

56′: Another dangerous chance for Seattle off a corner kick, but Johnson’s header is deflected before Pickens grabs it.

55′: This is the first time the Sounders have scored first in 10 games, dating to May 9. Seattle is 7-0-0 when scoring first this season.

54′: Flaco with a great chance to make it 2-0, but he hits a shot wide on the breakaway.

54′: Mauro Rosales now with a team-leading five assists this season. He has three in his last five games.

52′: GOAL SEATTLE! It’s Alvaro Fernandez with his first goal of the season in the 52nd minute off a Rosales corner kick. 1-0 Sounders.

51′: Rosales with a dangerous cross on a free kick toward the back post that Pickens is late to react to as he dives to knock it out for a corner kick.

49′: Burch draws a dangerous free kick. With no Fredy, who takes it? Looks like Rosales, Burch and Alonso are behind the ball. Caskey, too. Rosales ends up taking it and it’s blocked by the wall.

48′: Seattle didn’t take advantage of the early pressure; Colorado might be more resigned to sit back now.

46′: The second half is underway! No subs.

Halftime: Here are some stats. Shots–SEA 7-1. Shots on goal–SEA 3-0. Corners–SEA 4-2. Fouls–COL 8-1. Duels–SEA 65.1%. Possession–COL 51.8%.

Halftime. Sounders 0, Colorado 0. Seattle with nothing to show for controlling the game. Will we see Steve Zakuani tonight?

45′: Meredith crashes into the frame as a lofted cross floats near the goal. Corner kick Rapids cleared by Rose.

43′: Meredith out to punch a ball going to Casey. Ref calls a goal kick. Casey not after and lets Stott know about it.

41′: Rivero with a hard challenge on Flaco and goes into the book. Nothing comes of the free kick.

39′: Caskey with a good run, but another cross is cleared.

37′: Corner kick to Colorado. Rivero to take. Johansson clears at the near post.

35′: Flaco wins another header, this time off Johansson’s cross, but it’s just off target. Moments later, Alonso nearly finds Fernandez with a great pass, but the Uruguayan is offside.

33′: Caskey limping a bit and Larentowicz plays the ball out. The Sounder looks OK and play resumes with Seattle giving back possession.

29′: Kevin Stott calls another foul on the Rapids for contact on Rosales. He’s controlled the game pretty well so far, I feel.

24′: After a Seattle giveaway, Martin Rivero powers a shot toward goal, but it hits the side netting.

22′: Caskey finds Rosales on the left for a cross, but Pickens punches it before it could reach Johnson.

21′: Ozzie finds Johnson with a nice pass forward, but the forward’s shot is blocked. EJ has looked dangerous up front.

19′: Casey gets a cross in for the Rapids, but Meredith smothers it. No Colorado player was even in the box.

16′: Sounders with another free kick, but it’s cleared.

14′: MISS! Marc Burch finds Eddie Johnson with a beautiful pass into the box, but the forward is tackled on the shot and it’s out for a goal kick

12′: Another corner kick to Seattle. Cleared again.

11′: Rosales sets up Johnson for a tight-angled shot. Pickens makes the save and the Sounders have another corner kick. It’s cleared by Larentowicz.

9′: SAVE! A deflected shot by Fernandez forces a diving save from Pickens.

7′: Sounders very strong to start this one.

5′: Free kick to the Sounders. Rosales takes it and Flaco wins it. Pickens somewhat comfortable on the save.

3′: Good cross in from Johnson. Flaco is there, but it’s cleared out for a corner kick. Rosales cross bounces in the box, but it’s cleared.

1′: And we’re off! Brian Mullan on the right side to start (something to keep in mind if Zakuani comes in).

Pregame: Sounders in green-blue-green tonight. Colorado is white-burgundy-white. Seattle has a 5-1-1 advantage in the series (4-0 at home).

Pregame: It’s Military Appreciation Night here at CenturyLink Field.

Pregame: Colorado’s starting lineup is being announced and Brian Mullan — as expected — gets loud boos. There will be more of that, I’m sure.

Pregame: Kickoff will be closer to 8:20 p.m. tonight due to the NBC Sports Network broadcast.

Pregame: The lineups have been posted in the blog post below and you’ll notice Steve Zakuani is indeed on the bench tonight for the Sounders and Brian Mullan is starting for the Rapids.
