Osvaldo Alonso, Eddie Johnson added to 2012 MLS All-Star Team

allstar 2012.jpgSounders FC midfielder Osvaldo Alonso and forward Eddie Johnson have been added to the MLS All-Star Team by coach Ben Olsen, the league announced Sunday.

Alonso and Johnson will be available on the 18-man gameday squad for the July 25 exhibition against Chelsea FC at PPL Park. Olsen will determine the starting lineup at a later date.

This is Alonso’s second-straight All-Star nomination after being named an inactive All-Star last season. Johnson, who boasts a team-leading eight goals, is now a three-time All-Star.

Also added to the previously announced First XI were Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, San Jose defender Ramiro Corrales, Philadelphia defender Carlos Valdes, Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman and D.C. United forward Chris Pontius.

Here is the updated lineup for the MLS All-Stars:

Goalkeepers: Dan Kennedy (Chivas USA), Jimmy Nielsen (Sporting Kansas City)

Defenders: Steven Beitashour (San Jose Earthquakes), Aurelien Collin (Sporting Kansas City), Ramiro Corrales (San Jose Earthquakes), Jay DeMerit (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), Heath Pearce (New York Red Bulls), Carlos Valdes (Philadelphia Union)

Midfielders: Osvaldo Alonso (Seattle Sounders FC), David Beckham (LA Galaxy), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Dwayne De Rosario (D.C. United), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)

Forwards: Thierry Henry (New York Red Bulls), Eddie Johnson (Seattle Sounders FC), Chris Pontius (D.C. United), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)
