Sounders FC vs. Chivas USA, injury report

SEATTLE SOUNDERS FCOUT: FW Babayele Sodade (R knee ACL tear); FW David Estrada (L foot fracture); MF Andy Rose (rib fracture); QUESTIONABLE: GK Andrew Weber (R abductor strain)

The addition to this report for Seattle is Weber, who didn’t train Friday from what I saw. I believe that should read “adductor” and not “abductor” as his recurring injury had been a hip/groin issue. Either way, it looks like Josh Ford will be the backup this weekend.

Rose’s X-ray Thursday didn’t show enough improvement for him to rejoin training Friday. He’ll take another X-ray Monday.

Coach Sigi Schmid said they just have to wait.

Rose definitely has “a cracked rib. That’s definitely there. That’s not going to change,” Schmid said. “But what you want to make sure is that there’s no complications or problems with the lung, so that’s where it is right now. There was some air that got released out of his lung that’s outside, and so they want to see that pocket basically get smaller. It’s not getting bigger, but it didn’t get appreciably smaller. That’s something that takes a week or so for that to happen.”

Estrada, who has missed the last 11 MLS games, will also undergo an X-ray Monday. Despite the long absence, Estrada’s fitness is never a concern, Schmid said.

“He really pushed,” the coach added. “Like any time coming off an injury like that, and like we’ve always talked about, you push and then you plateau a little bit and then you push again. So he’s at a plateau stage right now. His next X-ray is on Monday, as well, so we figured it was a good time to plateau him now this weekend. We’ll look at the X-ray on Monday. If everything’s positive then, he’ll get pushed again and he’ll start working with the ball and start doing things — warmups with the team, things like that.”
